Self-Care and Action: New Post-Election Resources in English and Spanish
Many in our clinical network are experiencing stress and anxiety in the post-election world. As clinicians, we commit ourselves to serving everyone in our community – regardless of their background or political choices. We show up for our communities when they are experiencing stress and anxiety, even when we are stressed or anxious ourselves. Small steps toward self-care can greatly enhance your resilience and capacity to care for and help others. Here are two important resources to assist clinicians serving immigrant and migrant patients in the post-election world.
This week, Migrant Clinicians Network’s Witness to Witness released a new Post-Election Self-Care Guide, available in English and Spanish, to help us cope with challenging circumstances. This resource offers 11 simple and practical self-care tips that can be easily integrated into your daily routine, helping you manage stress and prioritize well-being. Whether you have five minutes between appointments or ten minutes during your break, or you need ways to decompress after a long shift, these strategies are designed to keep you aware and connected to your body, mind, and spirit during this particularly demanding time.
Next week, join Witness to Witness in the webinar, “Post-Election Advocacy and Activism for Clinicians Serving Immigrant and Migrant Patients,” on November 14, 2024, in English with simultaneous Spanish interpretation. The webinar is the third and final in our Words Matter series, that provides important context and practical resources on the impact of anti-immigrant rhetoric throughout the election season. You can sign up for that webinar, watch the first two webinars in the three-part series, and access numerous articles and resources on the topic at: www.migrantclinician.org/wordsmatter.
