Five on Friday: Mental Health Among Frontline Clinicians
Another very full week here at Migrant Clinicians Network! Here are some updates from the world of public health and health justice that we thought you might have missed, chosen by MCN staff members.
Karen shared the new pre-publication article in the journal Pediatrics: “Treatment of Migrant Children on the US Southern Border Is Torture.”
Amy shared this El País article, in English and Spanish, which features “a good visualization of aerosol transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in different settings and how ventilation, occupancy and time impact the risk,” she said.
Alma in Massachusetts shared “A Bilingual Tool That Fights Misinformation On WhatsApp.”
Kaethe shared several articles on health care workers and health, including the New York Times piece, “Nurses Are at High Risk for Covid Among Health Workers, C.D.C. Says,” and a report, “Mental Health Among Emergency Physicians.”
Weekly Win: This week, for our weekly win, MCN recommends that you take care of yourself! We shared a few movie recommendations among ourselves, including the Netflix original, “Bending the Arc,” which focuses on the journey and incredible work of Partners in Health. MCN’s own Del Garcia makes a very short picture cameo in grainy photos of Paul Farmer’s early work. Beyond her cameo, the film was praised by staff members as inspirational -- a much needed break from the news cycle.
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
