Five on Friday: Maryland Bans Chlorpyrifos!
As this pandemic continues to unfold, the world continues on. Migrants continue to seek a better life, vulnerable people struggle to get the care they need, health care workers put their lives on the line to care for others. At MCN, we’ve been very busy sharing resources, fielding questions, and supporting clinicians. Here are some articles that we shared at MCN this week.
As National Farmworker Health week wraps up, Alma in Massachusetts shared Home/Hogar, an essay on what home means for a farmworker.
Karen via USA Today: “We're seeing confusion, despair and even suicide after Trump rule on aid to immigrants” about the impact of public charge. **Please note, USCIS has indicated that COVID-19-related services will not be considered under public charge.
Karen also sent a dispatch from the border from the New York Times: “A Closed Border, Dashed Hopes and a Looming Disaster.”
Kaethe shared the resource, “Living with Worry and Anxiety amidst Global Uncertainty,” available in English and Spanish.
Weekly Win: Del shared the uplifting “Famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma Performs Internet Concert in Honor of Healthcare Workers.”
Double Weekly Win: Because we all need some good news this week! Amy shared the news that Maryland banned chlorpyrifos last week! Thank you, Amy and MCN advocates, for working hard to get it passed!
Have a safe and healthy early spring weekend.
