Claire and Kate both shared articles about low-wage workers and the California fires. Kate sent “Farmworkers Face Daunting Health Risks In California’s Wildfires.” Claire forwarded on “Getty Fire: Housekeepers and Gardeners Go To Work Despite the Flames.”

Alma celebrated the introduction of the “Farm Workforce Modernization Act” and also shared Farmworker Justice’s press release on the act, which would enable hundreds of thousands of farmworkers and their immediate family members to obtain a lawful immigration status and a pathway to citizenship.

Kate shared the Climate Institute’s “Eco-Anxiety: Mental Health Impacts of Environmental Disasters and Climate Change.”

Jillian shared the Washington Post article, “A New Clinic at Children’s National Hospital Treats Undocumented Kids with Diabetes. But They’re Hesitant to Seek Care.” The article references MCN’s annual clinician poll (which many of our clinician blog readers took) to demonstrate that the phenomenon of patients being too fearful to seek care is a nationwide trend.
