MCN Five on Friday

Hot July evenings lend themselves well to a lemonade and a paperback. What’s on your summer reading list? Often, with social justice advocates, the latest romance novel just won’t do. Del offered up the Marshall Project’s reading list if you are looking for a good read that also covers important aspects of criminal justice. Got a book to recommend? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter! In the meantime, here are a few good reads on health justice, recommended by MCN staff.

  1. Amy, Director of Environmental and Occupational Health, forwarded on this paper from her Maryland colleagues on the health care access for immigrants on the Eastern Shore

  2. Ricardo, Health Network Manager, challenges you to a pop quiz on your public health knowledge. What’s your score?

  3. Karen, Chief Executive Officer, recommends WorkCompCentral’s newly published case studies demonstrating the financial impact of temporary work injury to two Californians. Additional reports highlighting other states are available.

  4. Leslie, Health Network Associate, recommends three recently opened exhibits at the Mexican American Cultural Center in Austin, focusing on the farmworker experience in Austin and throughout the US, including Bittersweet Harvest, a bilingual exhibition that explores the bracero program.

  5. Theressa, Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator, recommends National Center for Farmworker Health’s new Colorectal Cancer Screening Digital Story in English and Spanish, a good resource to assist health centers in meeting the clinical performance measure on colorectal cancer screening.
