Annie Leone, MSN, CNM is a Nurse Midwife who has been working for several years in the Rio Grande Valley on the Texas border with Mexico. She works as a staff midwife at an accessible freestanding birth center in addition to providing midwifery care to migrants seeking asylum at an immigration shelter. She has worked alongside MCN’s Health Network case managers for years at the shelter and provides medical case review for Health Network. Since 2015, she has been working as a Certified Nurse Midwife in various settings, with a focus on providing care through the lens of justice and equity. Leone is originally from Cleveland, OH. She attended undergraduate at Ohio State University where she studied Spanish, Public Health, and International Studies and eventually discovered midwifery. She went on to graduate with her MSN in Nurse Midwifery from Seattle University in 2014. Prior to living in the Rio Grande Valley, she worked at a large urban OB/GYN and Midwifery hospital practice in the Bronx, NYC for three years. Outside of work, Leone enjoys community engagement, spending time with family and friends, being in nature, reading, traveling the world, dancing, being a foodie, doing pottery, and being a Cleveland sports fan.
