21,000 Signatures
How thick is a petition with 21,000 signatures? On Tuesday, Cesar Chavez day, the Environmental Protection Agency found out. The EPA received a petition with 21,000 signatures from individuals across the country, asking them to finalize the Worker Protection Standard by August 18th.
Thank you to all of you who signed the petition. We, along with our partner organizations like Farmworker Justice, Earthjustice, UFW, and Pesticide Action Network, will continue to put the pressure on the EPA to ensure that new farmworker protections will be put into place.
Our goal is to see new protections by August 18th, one year from the end of last year’s comment period, in which -- with your help -- MCN added more than 17,000 voices to the call for stronger workplace protections for our nation's farmworkers. Stay tuned for more actions as the summer approaches.
