Description of Content
This curriculum is for individuals conducting workshops to educate community health workers (promotores de salud) on ways to minimize risks from agricultural hazards among farmworker families. Included is a detailed guide to help CHWs introduce and teach parents relevant messages using participatory education methods geared towards adult learners. Also included are resources for CHWs to distribute to parents to help reinforce safety measures and culturally appropriate evaluation tools to help measure impact.
Training attendees participate in a variety of activities.
Curriculum and Resoruces for Community Health Workers
This training walks the community health worker through the process of conducting a community workshop on environmental exposures. It offers a step-by-step guide on how to initiate the training and introduce educational materials to parents. The content also gives CHWs a detailed overview of environmental contaminants and how to minimize children’s exposures to them. A framework for dialogue and activities is provided.
