The Jillian Hopewell Fellowship is dedicated to supporting current staff and interns at Migrant Clinicians Network in specific activities aimed at strengthening their education and advancing their careers in migrant health. This fellowship serves as a tribute to Jillian Hopewell, one of the original employees of Migrant Clinicians Network. Jillian's forward-thinking vision and tireless efforts were instrumental in supporting thousands of clinicians, bringing health equity and access to care for numerous migrants and immigrants, and establishing Migrant Clinicians Network as a nationally recognized organization for health justice.
Jillian, an exceptional leader, had a profound influence on her colleagues, enabling them to deliver their best and most impactful work. In the spirit of Jillian's legacy, Migrant Clinicians Network offers the Jillian Hopewell Fellowship to provide crucial financial support to professionals and students pursuing careers in migrant health.
Working in migrant health is both rewarding and challenging. Migrant Clinicians Network enhances the skills of clinicians through ongoing education, cultural competence training, and the development of tools and models for effective engagement with immigrant and migrant communities. Over the years, many Migrant Clinicians Network interns, staff members, and contractors have gone on to become migrant clinicians and health advocates themselves. The Jillian Hopewell Fellowship is designed to support the development of skills in migrant health among Migrant Clinicians Network interns and staff by funding stipends for future interns and offering continuing education and professional development opportunities for current staff members.
