Spring has sprung! The first day of spring -- most evident in the early harvests of asparagus, lettuces, and other tender crops in the markets today -- arrives just a few days before the start of National Farmworker Awareness Week. The Student Action for Farmworkers (SAF) encourages organizations to take action to support farmworkers in their communities or nationwide. For example, this year, the Association for Farmworker Opportunity Programs (AFOP) is organizing a long-sleeve shirt drive for farmworkers. Weekly Win: Amy shared a Washington Post article that dives into Dorothea Lange’s work as social commentary, in honor of the current exhibit of her work at the Museum of Modern Art, New York: “Dorothea Lange used photography to make an ugly world beautiful. She used words to give that beauty meaning.”
