Weekly Win: Aníbal forwarded on the new changes to the way the federal government asks about race and ethnicity, including during the census. Finally, the race and ethnicity questions will be combined, which will reduce confusion and miscategorization, and “Middle Eastern or North African” will be added as an option, allowing people like Egyptians, Iranians, Palestinians or Libyans to choose a category other than “white.” Both changes will allow people to select answers that are more closely aligned with how they self-identify, research shows.
